Desire for knowledge: the first transgression, the fall of Adam and Eve. In the countryside of post-revolutionary France, a young priest has committed the same sin. Henri's desire for knowledge has surpassed his desire to serve God, condemning both him and the village he lives in.

Something has caught scent of Henri's lust for knowledge. Something more powerful than the Catholic Church, far more ancient than any human religion. Now Henri's faith is at stake, eroded by horrifying circumstances, and there is a stranger in town intent on speaking with him. Confusing him, corrupting him, seducing him.
